In 1980 the college enrollment rate for Whites was only 27.3 percent and for African Americans only 19.4 percent.
Not so long ago nearly all those who follow national postsecondary education statistics were very worried about access to college education. I believe most of us now ( given the large numbers of college enrollment for all groups) our focus is on college persistence and choice of college majors.
