We hope that the pages of Anyonecanachieve.com are full of inspiration. We know that inspiration is a defining characteristic of pastor Bruce Rose’s ministry. He has faithfully served his parishioners at Second Baptist Church but also his ministry is felt throughout the Bloomington Community-Indiana and beyond. We know this from the tributes Dr. Rose received upon his 20th year Anniversary at Second Baptist.

We thank Reverend Rose for his faithful service. We are so pleased to honor him with this post that reprints his biography upon the 20th year anniversary.

Rev. Dr. Bruce R. Rose

“Rev. Dr. Bruce R. Rose, is a native of Terre Haute, Indiana and was born the eleventh child

of Nathaniel R. and Anna L. Rose. He attended public schools in Terre Haute. He served a

four-year tour of duty with the United States Marine Corps, which included assignments in

California, Okinawa, and North Carolina. After his military career, he attended and

graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He later received

his Master of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he was selected as

the outstanding professional. He earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Faith

Seminary in Tacoma, Washington.

Dr. Rose began his professional career with Sears, Roebuck and Company in Rockford,

Illinois. Later he was employed by the electric utility industry where he served in various

capacities of customer service management across the states of Indiana and Ohio. He was

the General Manager of Diversity Performance at Cinergy Corp. (now Duke Energy) and

later was promoted to Vice President of Cincinnati Gas and Electric.

Dr. Rose was nominated by the CEO of Cinergy Corp. and became a recipient of the

National Leadership Institute Award, presented in Kansas City, KS. He also was selected for

the Philanthropy Award from the National Society

of FundRaising Executives in

Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Rose has served on numerous corporate and not-for-profit

boards.

Rev. Dr. Rose is the former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Liberty, Indiana and

has served as interim pastor of the Greater St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church, Gary,

Indiana, as well as interim pastor at Second Baptist Church, Bloomington, Indiana. In June

2003, Dr. Rose became pastor-elect of Second Baptist Church and on September 28, 2003

he was installed as the pastor where he currently serves.

In 2016 the Holy Spirit convicted Pastor Rose to assume the leadership role for the

Southeastern District Association’s renovation project. This repair and restoration project

was for the only remaining African American landmark in Orange County, Indiana. This

endangered historic site was called the First Baptist (Colored) Church of West Baden

Springs.

Through much prayer and the continuous moving of God’s Holy Spirit, seven years

later over $150,000 was donated to this project. In addition, a core group of members from

Second Baptist Church Bloomington and various community volunteers utilized their skills

and talents to renovate the structure. It is now known as the First Missionary Baptist

Church of West Baden Indiana and is open for weekly service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus

Christ.

Dr. Rose finds that some of his most treasured times are those spent with his siblings

friends, his daughter, Ashley, and his three precious granddaughters, Alaynna, Aaliyah, and

Alaysha.”
