How did you learn about senior line dance?

A member of my church told me about it and I was immediately interested in learning more. Dance is something I’ve always loved since childhood days.

What was the first group you attended and what was your reaction to that first encounter?

The first group I attended was “Young At Heart” at Washington Park .

How often do you line dance?

Usually dance twice weekly.

How would you describe the atmosphere and settings where line dance occurs?

The atmosphere is very welcoming. I enjoy the fellowship and the spirit of shared accomplishment with the other dances. Learning the different and new line dance steps is both challenging and fun. The instructors at all the line dance sites are flexible and very supportive of our progress. They want you to have a good time with others. Line dancing keeps a smile on my face.

How does line dance benefit your life on a personal level?

The exercise and supportive community is very encouraging. Line dancing leads to a good feeling of achievement. Line dance groups keep me busy with dance, birthday celebrations and from time to time dance performances in front of an audience at local Community Centers, Churches or Rehabilitation Centers, etc.

Have you had occasion to recommend line dance to other seniors? I have recommended line dance to others by emphasizing that it’s a good way of forming wonderful new connections with like minded people.

Any other comments you’d like to share? Yes! Line dance groups are available every day and several times daily. instructors are always helpful, knowledgeable and patient. Finally, thanks so much to Anyonecanachieve for highlighting line dance as a great form of exercise and Community Support.
